WCCO-AM radio meteorologist Mike Lynch will lead the sessions. Lynch has taught thousands of astronomy classes since 1973. He uses colorful stories and large reflecting telescopes to connect his students to the stars. Star Watch programs are appropriate for children and adults. Participants will receive a handout package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, websites, a telescope-buying guide and more. Dress for the weather and consider bringing insect repellant. There is no charge for these programs, but vehicles entering the park are required to have a permit ($7 daily or $35 year-round), which can be purchased at the park.
The Lake Shetek State Park program will be held in the Sunrise Campground East Picnic Shelter building. The park is located north of Currie on County Road 38. More information is available at www.mndnr.gov/state_parks/lake_shetek or by calling 507-763-3256.
