Location: In-Person, Park Side Elementary and Southview Elementary
FTE: 1.0 FTE, 180 Day Contract
Shift: Day Shift, 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Days of Work: Monday - Friday
Weekend Work: No
Travel Required: No
Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 Per Hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Marshall Public Schools is seeking a School Health Aide to serve split time between Park Side Elementary and Southview Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year. In collaboration and under direction of the Licensed School Nurse, the School Health Aide identifies, addresses, and monitors students’ health conditions, provides preventive screenings such as vision and hearing, provides and promotes health education such as growth and development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend to the immediate health needs of students who report to the health office in addition to administering first aid to students/staff, medication and specialized treatments in accordance with State laws, district policies and student health related plans
  • Assist in skilled nursing procedures (i.e. feeding tubes, catheterizations, medication administration, diabetic treatment, etc.)
  • Collaborate with school nurse in reviewing student related data, planning and supporting student health related needs
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding minor health concerns and procedures
  • Perform preventative screenings for vision and hearing capabilities
  • Maintain student health related data
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize basic technology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Minnesota Licensed Practice Nurse preferred but will consider Medical Assistant or other health related certifications

 LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND REGISTRATIONS: 
  • Minnesota Licensed Practice Nurse preferred but will consider Medical Assistant or other health related certifications
  • Certification in CPR required

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
  • The regular work environment of this position is typically in an office or clinical setting.
  • Physical activities include sedentary to light work, including reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The position requires the employee to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with students, teachers, staff, and outside agencies.
  • The employee may occasionally be exposed to bodily fluids.
